On November 18, from 17:15 to 18:45, investigative journalist Martin Schibbye will visit Stockholm University to share his experiences covering the Lundin Oil trial. Schibbye has reported on the proceedings concerning allegations of complicity in serious violations of international law linked to Lundin Oil’s activities in what is now South Sudan.
With the verdict expected in early December, this is a particularly timely opportunity to learn more about the case ahead of the court’s decision. Schibbye will share insights into the trial, the challenges of reporting on complex legal proceedings, and the role of investigative journalism in covering cases of international significance.
Schibbye is one of Sweden’s most renowned investigative journalists. His work on the case has attracted widespread attention, and his experiences as a journalist in Ethiopia were portrayed in the film 438 Days (2019).
The lecture will be held in English and is open for everyone, so feel free to bring your friends!
